Exhibit A: Why I HAVE to Go to Aunt Crystal’s

Crystal’s youngest niece presenting some pretty hardcore evidence for why a little storm was absolutely not a good enough reason to keep her from Aunt Crystal’s house. I mean… look at that toothless grin. Who was saying no to that face? Definitely not Crystal.

    When We Fall Apart

    When We Fall Apart

Crystal sent me “When We Fall Apart” after I lost my grandmother the year before she died. At the time, it was my big sister trying to help me through grief—reminding me that it was okay to hurt, to cry, and to fall apart when you lose someone you love. I never imagined that just one year later, I would choose that same song for her funeral. What Crystal once sent to comfort me became one of the songs I used to say goodbye to her.

    You Can't Lose Me

    You Can’t Lose Me

A lifetime of memories told through photographs, set to Faith Hill’s “You Can’t Lose Me”—a song that will forever remind me of Crystal. She was ten years older than me, my big sister, my second mom, and my best friend. These pictures tell a piece of our story that words never fully could.

Sit right here, at the edge of this pier and drink a beer

    Drink a Beer

Chosen by my twin brother, Josh, for Crystal’s funeral, Luke Bryan’s “Drink a Beer” accompanied photographs celebrating the sister we shared and the memories we never expected to become so precious. Sometimes grief isn’t complicated—it’s simply missing someone you love and wishing you could sit beside them one more time. This was Josh’s song for his sister, and another piece of Crystal’s story told through the eyes of someone who loved her.

I'm No Stranger to the Rain

I’m No Stranger to the Rain

Chosen by our older brother, Dane, this song accompanied photographs of Crystal at her funeral. It was his way of honoring his little sister—the life she lived, the storms she weathered, and the strength that was so much a part of who she was. Through these pictures, you get another glimpse of Crystal as we knew her, remembered her, and will always love her.

    My Sister, My Friend

Before there was a case, there was Crystal. My sister. My best friend. A mother, daughter, sister and aunt who was deeply loved. This video, shared at her funeral, is a glimpse of the woman behind the story.
