Some arguments are just impossible to win.

In this video, Crystal’s youngest niece very seriously explains to me why it is perfectly okay—and apparently completely necessary—for her to go to Aunt Crystal’s house, despite the storm.

And honestly, just look at her. That toothless little grin, that face, and the absolute confidence that she had already made her case. She knew exactly what she was doing.

But the funniest part is that she also knew her audience. Aunt Crystal loved those girls beyond measure, and saying “no” to them was never exactly her strong suit. If one of them wanted to come to her house, there was always a pretty good chance they were going to find a way to make it happen.

It’s one of those ordinary little family moments that means so much more now—a child determined to get to her aunt, completely certain that Aunt Crystal would be on her side.
