On February 7, 2026, just days before the third anniversary of Crystal McCrory Jones’s death, family, friends, and supporters gathered in Oak Grove, Louisiana, for something that was never meant to be another investigation meeting, interview, or conversation about everything that went wrong.

It was a Celebration of Life for Crystal.

KTVE was there to capture a day centered on remembering Crystal for who she was—not simply for the circumstances surrounding her death on February 9, 2023.

One of the most meaningful parts of the weekend was the presence of 12 TikTok creators who traveled from across the United States to be there with our family. Some flew. Some drove. They came from different places and different walks of life, but they shared one thing in common: somewhere along the way, they had come to know Crystal through her story and had become part of the community that surrounded our family.

What began through screens and social media became very real that weekend.

They hugged Crystal’s mother. They stood beside her siblings, children, nieces, nephews, family, and friends. They listened to stories, shared memories, laughed with us, cried with us, and helped us celebrate a woman many of them never had the opportunity to meet in life—but whose story had nevertheless touched their lives.

West Carroll Parish Sheriff Scott Mathews was also personally invited to attend Crystal’s Celebration of Life. The invitation was sent directly to him by text message. He did not respond to the invitation and did not attend.

For three years, so much of the public conversation surrounding Crystal has understandably focused on questions: questions about her death, questions about the investigation, and questions our family continues to believe deserve answers.

But Crystal was never just a case.

She was a daughter. A mother. A sister. An aunt. A friend. She was funny, imperfect, deeply loved, and completely irreplaceable.

This KTVE report captures an important chapter of Crystal’s story: a family still searching for answers and accountability three years later, while refusing to allow the questions surrounding her death to become the only thing the world remembers about her.

We can continue asking what happened to Crystal while still celebrating who Crystal was.

That is what this weekend was about.

And three years later, her story—and the love surrounding her—continues.
